Erin has experience and training in the treatment of anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, eating disorders, and mood disorders. Additionally, Erin has specialized training in working with couples and families. She is especially interested in working with children, adolescents and women around issues of self-esteem, eating disorder behaviors, grief, trauma, shame, and anxiety. In addition, she enjoys working with couples and families seeking conflict resolution, improved connection, and new ways of communicating with each other. Erin operates from a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, trauma-informed techniques, and family systems. When working with couples, she utilizes Gottman techniques with a strong emphasis on Emotionally Focused therapy and uses training in play therapy techniques when working with children.
Throughout her clinical internship and post grad experience, Erin has provided counseling in outpatient settings for individuals, couples, and families of various ages and backgrounds. In graduate school, she served as an intern at an outpatient clinic, working individually with children, (preschool and elementary), adolescents, and adults, as well as with couples and families. Erin also interned for an intensive outpatient program for adolescents with emotional and behavioral concerns, facilitating group therapy alongside a licensed counselor. After graduating, Erin worked within the Hamilton County School district as a school-based therapist, providing counseling for elementary school students and their families. Erin’s clinical experience has also been shaped by the opportunity to serve alongside a ministry on the Yakama Indian Reservation, helping to lead programs for children and adolescents and providing psychoeducational resources to the ministry staff. Erin considers each of these experiences to have influenced her understanding of people and how we change and heal over time.
Erin’s trainings and certifications include:
Erin believes that counseling can have life long impacts on a person’s quality of life, self-worth and relationships. From her perspective, when people explore their thoughts, emotions, and actions from a curious and compassionate stance, they develop self-reliance, new opportunities to relate to others and ourselves, and strategies to manage intense emotions. She considers it a tremendous privilege to support her clients throughout this process, and is committed to facilitating a collaborative, empathetic environment, holding the belief that healing and empowerment occur when people experience the safety to tell their story. Erin enjoys reading and is constantly excited to learn or explore something new. She enjoys laughter, doodling, and being outside.
