RO DBT Skills Training Classes
*Currently accepting participants*
It can be quite challenging to feel genuine happiness when lonely, no matter how much effort you put into accepting or altering your circumstances. Keeping busy, working out, working, practicing yoga, practicing what you preach...these things matter, yes, and - as we like to say around here - they have their limits. Standard DBT is the master of all things acceptance and change. And when that’s needed, it can be highly effective. Yet what happens when it's not enough? Or, perhaps, too much?
As social beings, we crave companionship and the sense of belonging that comes with being part of a group. When we genuinely feel like we are part of a community, we are less anxious, less depressed, less lonely; ultimately, we are more us. RO DBT skills are specifically designed to help with just that: they help us live a life worth living by teaching us how to live a life worth sharing. |
In RO DBT, skills training is comprised of 20 skills taught over 30 lessons. At Wise Mind Collective:
- Classes are open on an on-going basis; participants are able to join after an initial assessment and orientation.
- Our RO DBT skills training adheres to Dr. Thomas Lynch’s researched and developed model, and our skills training leaders have been trained through Lynch's program at Radically Open Blended Learning. Visit here for more information about that training.
- We use the handouts and worksheets from Dr. Thomas Lynch’s RO DBT skills manual in the class; participants will be provided with digital copies, hard copies upon request.
- It is highly recommended that class members have an individual provider (e.g., a therapist, psychiatrist, dietician); for some it will be recommended that the individual provider be an RO DBT therapist. The initial assessment will help determine the recommendation.
